Many times children and adolescents struggle to communicate openly with the helping professionals in their lives due to a history of trauma. When words fail or are insufficient, play and creative projects can convey so much about what is being experienced and can be a means of healing. This Lunch and Learn will cover the theory and rationale for using play and creative therapy techniques with traumatized children and adolescents. Attendees will learn about play therapy techniques involving a variety of mediums, including art and sand. Techniques will also be covered to help with a wide range of issues. Attendees will learn how play therapy can help with developing coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, processing trauma, and more.
