The Youth Opportunity Center focuses on addressing the individual needs of children and adolescents who are identified as having difficulties at home, school or in the community. This might include, but is not limited to: abuse or neglect, emotionally disabilities, sexually maladaptive behaviors, substance abuse, conduct disorders and psychiatric symptoms.
The YOC recognizes the value of family involvement and whenever possible, encourages parents/guardians to take an active role in their child’s treatment. This may include meeting with the diagnostic team to provide information regarding their child, completing treatment plan input forms to assist in the development of the child’s long-term planning, engage in the family team meetings, attending treatment plan meetings, participation in family fun nights, regularly engaging in visitation and phone calls, and participate in the discharge planning process. Family involvement is critical to a child’s success.
The Youth Opportunity Center offers a variety of services to help meet the needs of children and their families. Youth are placed at YOC under the jurisdiction of the juvenile court system by the Indiana Department of Child Services or Juvenile Probation Department. Youth may be referred by public school corporations for specific programs. For additional information, please contact the Admissions Department at (765) 289-5437 Ext. 2222
