02 Jun YOC Clinicians to Keynote IYI Worker Cafe: Understanding Human Trafficking

Hanna Slowick, PsyD, and Amber Groomes, MA, Youth Opportunity Center clinicians will speak on Understanding Human Trafficking: Commercially Sexually Exploited Children, Wed., June 8, 2016, 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM at Cornerstone Center for the Arts, Muncie, Ind.  The program is sponsored by the Indiana Youth Institute and open to the public.

The YOC has been working with commercially sexually exploited youth for years, with a substantial increase over the past 18 to 24 months. Human trafficking is a $150 billion criminal industry that is one of the fastest growing crimes in the United States, second only to drug trafficking. Of those youth who have been identified as being a victim of human trafficking, 80 percent were involved with Department of Child Services and 50 percent were in foster care.
