Dr. Eubank to speak on the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children

26 Apr Dr. Eubank to speak on the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children

Dr. Robyn N. Eubank, PsyD, HSSP, Director of Psychological Services, will participate in a panel conversation on Sex Trafficking: Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children at the Delaware County Prevent Child Abuse luncheon, April 29, 2016.  She will be joined by Judge Kimberly Dowling, Delaware County Circuit Court #2, and Lexie Smith, an advocate for survivors from Nashville, Tenn.,

“The YOC has been working with commercially sexually exploited youth for years, with a substantial increase over the past 18 to 24 months. I don’t go a week without hearing about a new victim. It’s heart breaking,” said Dr. Eubank.

According to Eubank, human trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the United States.  The average age of a person being sold for the first time is between 12 and 14 years old. “Some people think about the movie TAKEN when they hear about sex trafficking; that adolescents are abducted from European and Asian countries, drugged, and sold for sex. That is Hollywood, not reality. The reality is that our local children and adolescents are being sold to engage in sexual acts by people here in Indiana,” she said.
