The Youth Opportunity Center (YOC) and YOC Foundation announced a $4.25 million Capital Campaign at an event on Thursday, April 20, 2017. The YOC’s Transforming Together: The Next Chapter Campaign (www.YOCtransforming.org) addresses the YOC’s need to renovate existing facilities and create innovative treatment programs to more effectively treat youth with complex psychological and behavioral challenges.

Campaign chairman Kelly Stanley, YOC Board member and a well-known community leader, hosted the campaign celebration and reveal for approximately 100 early supporters of the campaign. Speakers included Stanley; Rick Rowray, Youth Opportunity Center CEO; Jeff Parsons, First Merchants Bank Vice President Commercial Banking and YOC Board Chair; and Dr. Jeff Bird, Chief Operating Officer/Chief Medical Officer at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

“The YOC is an outstanding organization with strong leadership and a passionate, dedicated staff, Stanley remarked. “My wife Donna and I had the opportunity to visit the YOC a few years ago and were immediately hooked and wanted to do more ‘For the Kids.’  The needs of children in our community are extensive and this campaign is one way to secure funding needed for the next generation of children in our community. I am honored to chair a campaign that will transform the lives of children.”

The campaign celebration is the first of several events this year.  The YOC’s 25th Anniversary Celebration and Dinner will follow on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Horizon Convention Center. Additional information is available at www.yocinc.org.

“IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital is proud to support behavioral health initiatives in our community, and in this case enhance the work the YOC is doing for youth,” Bird said.

YOC CEO, Rick Rowray

Rowray commented, “This is an exciting time in our organization’s history. As we celebrate 25 years of serving kids and embarking on the organization’s first capital campaign. The children we serve today are more complex and their needs more intensive. The Transforming Together Campaign will enable the YOC to address today’s treatment needs and transform the lives of kids.”

The YOC is grateful for the generous support of community partners like Ball Brothers Foundation, The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, George and Frances Ball Foundation, Hamer D. and Phyllis C. Shafer Foundation, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Old National Foundation, Paul R. and Kathy Walker, and the many individuals, corporations, and foundations that have supported this campaign in the early phase.
