Moving to a new setting can be a difficult time for a child. Our emergency shelter care program provides a supportive, caring, comfortable environment where youth feel safe and secure. Youth placed in the ESC program are awaiting an alternative placement option as determined by the Juvenile Probation Officer or the Department of Child Services Family Case Manager. (Staff Ratio 1:4)

INTAC Emergency Shelter Care (Cottage # 7)

  • 24-hour emergency placements
  • Short-term placements (20 day maximum stay)
  • Co-ed environment
  • Licensed for youth ages 6-18 (most youth are 10 and above)

The Cottage # 7 Emergency Shelter Care Program works with youth who have failed other placements, needed immediate removal from the home or pending alternataive placement options. These youth may have violated the rules of probation, present as a danger to self or others and need a structured environment until an alternative placement is available. Juvenile Probation Officer and the Department of Child Services Family Case Manager will work with the family and YOC’s treatment team to place the child in the most appropriate setting as quickly as possible.
