YOC Receives Green Initiative Award from BSU Council on the Environment

16 Jun YOC Receives Green Initiative Award from BSU Council on the Environment

The Youth Opportunity Center (YOC) recently received the Green Initiative Award from the Ball State University Council on the Environment (COTE). The award recognizes the YOC’s commitment to environmental stewardship as demonstrated by the installation of 53 solar panels that generate more than 13 kilowatts of power to supply 15% of the annual electricity needs of its central services facility building.

COTE is a clearinghouse for sustainability initiatives. Its Green Initiative Award recognizes everyday activities, decisions or contributions that help move the community toward sustainability. Other awardees in this year’s Green Initiative category for solar panel installations were Cornerstone Center for the Arts, ecoREHAB, Muncie Public Library, Shafer Chapel, and Unitarian Universalist Church, all of Muncie.
