Referral Process

The Youth Opportunity Center, Inc. is available to accept court-referred residents on an emergency basis and for long-term care. YOC is also able to provide services for private referrals through the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) option as well. In meeting the treatment and placement needs of youth, the YOC offers psychological testing, emergency shelter services, open residential, semi-secure, and private secure care. If placement is being sought, please use one of the three options listed below.

Emergency Placements for Residential Services

If placement is needed immediately, please call the Admissions Department. The YOC accepts placements 24 hours/7 days a week into our Emergency Shelter Care Programs. Admissions will accept or deny the placement at the time of the phone call. After regular business hours, please ask for the Shift Supervisor at 765-289-5437 or 888-610-5199.

Non-Emergency Placements for Residential Services

During regular business hours, contact the Assistant Director of Admissions, Jodi Thomas, or the Director of Business Development / Communications, Polly Craig.

The Admissions Department will review all referral information and provide feedback in a timely manner. The staff will request information such as: psychological testing, previous placement information, discharge summary from prior placements, school testing/individual education plan, social history, Probation Department or Department of Child Services information and/or any information that will be helpful in making placement decisions. The Admissions Department will fax or email the admission packet prior to placement.

The Youth Opportunity Center has multiple entrances into the facility. Below is are the entrance locations for the following:

• Entrance #1: Human Resource Department, Residential cottages, main reception area, Admissions Department, Administrative office.
• Entrance #3: Business Office and Training Department.
• Entrance #4: Juvenile Detention Center (turn right). Treatment for Adolescents in Secure Care (TASC) (turn left). Juvenile Court (turn left). * Also located on the YOC campus are the Department of Child Services (turn left) and the Delaware County Juvenile Probation (turn right).

If a youth has committed a non-status offense and secure detention is being sought, Please contact David Dickerson, Detention Director, at 765-741-4940 or 888-610-5199. If you are unable to reach David Dickerson, the Detention Team Leader will be able to assist.
