    About Us

The Youth Opportunity Center Foundation helps you help the YOC. By supporting the Foundation, you help us help kids- kids who have fallen through the cracks and need the counseling, character education, and training the YOC provides on its beautiful 75 acre residential campus.

Since 1992, over 7,000 children and their families have been impacted by the YOC. Today, the YOC touches the lives of more than 400 kids each day. If you give today to the YOC Foundation, then why couldn’t that gift save a child? It very well could.

The dictionary definition of the YOC might look like this…. The Youth Opportunity Center, Inc., a non-profit organization in Muncie, Indiana, has helped children and families in more than one-third of Indiana’s counties. The YOC provides housing, training, education, behavioral counseling and clinical help to children and adolescent in crisis situations. But there is so much more to our story and the lives of each and every child here. The Youth Opportunity Center holds prestigious accreditation from the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services. The main YOC campus is located on a beautiful, forested, 75-acre campus with nature trails, picnic shelters and recreation space. The modern facilities include residential cottages, a juvenile detention center and a secure treatment facility.

The Youth Opportunity Center operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is open year round. Those who work on the YOC campus include some 380 employees: physicians, a psychiatrist, psychologists, licensed clinicians, master’s and doctoral–level interns, child care specialists, food service professionals, nurses, support staff and other personnel helping YOC kids and families. Additionally, the campus houses a fully accredited Muncie Community Schools educational program with 15 teachers. The majority of the children at the YOC are placed here under court order, and the goal is to provide enough care and guidance to enable children to realize their unique potential. The YOC helps to do things that a family, a school, a community have been unable to do. We know its hard work. But we know every child is worth it.
